Rebel Hope

Rebel Hope - proud owner of Rebel Hope Designs, Inc. and RH Designs Woodshed Co-Owner - is now an impressive 3,5 virtual years old. In real life she goes as 'Linda', with a - just as impressive - 42 years old: 'But what is a number. It's all in how you feel inside that counts. *wink*'

Miss Rebel first heard about Second Life in August 2004 and only registered because a friend insisted. In fact she came to SL and left because it was just too "cartoony" for me at the time. He said, 'no wait you have to come get into world and fix your avatar.' Reluctantly, she returned to the virtual world in December 2004. 'I wish I could remember that first name I had!' For now Second Life is the only virtual worlds Miss Hope frequents and creates in, but she is looking into some other prospects, as she is not the one to shy away from a challenge, and is loving new growth in the virtual worlds - aka metaverse - areas.

'My first fashion experience happened the moment my feet hit the pixels here. Newbie clothing was horrid so it was my first goal to get something that looked better and that was hard to find. I quickly decided that it was my calling to design better looking things for the ladies to wear and I was especially drawn to formals because in RL you don't walk around in a gown but here you can!' Rebel Hope has some art background but is self taught in PS and the other graphics programs that she uses: 'I did a lot of tutorials and with a lot of determination and long hours I'm learning. I don't think you can ever know it all when it comes to graphic design and doing the type of work I do. I enjoy it very much and wish I had 20 more hours in a day to do it.' Miss Rebel mainly uses Photoshop CS3 Extended, but also a few other programs to manipulate textures.

When asked what drives and inspires her, Miss Hope responds with 'almost everything': 'I love it all really and create what I'm feeling at the moment. I'm inspired by RL clothing and great magazines. I'm also inspired by my customers and what their feedback is on designs they like.' Rebel Hope finds herself to be a pretty classic type designer, tending to draw that type of customers. She likes simplicity and elegance when it comes to fashion. One exception to that is the costuming area, which was also one of her first fashion adventures in Second Life: costuming.

Rebel Hope's favourite piece of art on the Black Swan sim is "Angel": 'My partner in SL recently bought me the work of art and it is just nothing short of amazing.
