Plasma City is closing down at the end of November as we planned, hurry and check-out before it all gets zapped. There are many areas to wander through including 2 amazing rollercoasters. Mr Hotspur O'toole - amongst others - attended the NPIRL Halloween Party at Plasma City, only to discover there are two... 'That's right, TWO roller coasts... Did I mention 2?' ... rollercoasters on the plasma sims, both constructed by prim-magician Madcow Cosmos and many more creative geniuses (take a look in the comments). Neat, no? Even more neat is Mr O'toole filmed his ride on those... .

Fans have voted, and chosen their top 12 favorites to be shown in the Machinima Festival.  It was great to see people support the machinima makers and to perhaps find new favorites.  On Friday the 24th at the Cannery will be shown the 12 chosen machinimas.  Without further ado I will announce the top 12. 

With a landslide in votes Halden Beaumont took top honors for his beautiful machinima "Beyond Magic".  Next it was Mescaline Tammas with her fun music machinima "Duran Duran Second Life Machinima Mashup" featuring Duran Duran's classic songs.  Krrish Spyker's supernatural machinima "The Vistor" rounds out the top 3.  

Upcoming documentary/machinima Life 2.0 gets under the virtual skin of avatars:

"Second Life can give you a chance to experiment with a different side of yourself. You need not be the same person on-line as you are off-line, and this may give you a chance to better understand yourself," she wrote. "Psychologists have long understood that we have a varied, multi-faceted self-concept. Trying on a different self in the virtual world can be positive."

In his documentary set to come out next year, Spingarn-Koff says he has filmed a small cross-section of users over a period of two years so that viewers can see the dramatic transformations users experience through Second Life.

Sounds really interesting stuff! Hope we can see if here in UK also. Looks like potentially one of the more interesting studies of the social phenomenons of the real-time, digital community.
