A Killer Masquerade Ball at Crimson Shadow

Fashion Inspired by Crimson Shadow has inspired more than just actual fashion.  It also inspired the urge to party!  Yesterday, Crimson Shadow played host to an invite-only crowd of revelers that included the designers who are participating in the event, bloggers, friends, and the occasional random but righteous person!  Achariya Maktoum

The theme was a "Killer Masquerade," and the guests certainly looked the part.  Amongst squeals of "Ooh!" and "Wow" and the ever popular "Hoo!," Lokum Shilova was kind enough to take some pictures while everyone was looking all fancy and fabulous (just click the link to see all of em).  Considering the technological miracle it must have been to take pictures at all with the amount of people present, I'm obliged to show you a few while I wax poetic about the party.

Ivey Deschanel's "The Baron" & "The Baroness" for "Fashion Inspired by Crimson Shadow" is Killer!

The "Fashion Inspired by Crimson Shadow" begins today at 12 PM SL in Crimson Shadow with a four hour long preview for invited guests to the tunes of DJs Bianca Darling and Azu.  After getting a glimpse at the designs that will be featured today and during tomorrow's fashion show at 2 PM, I couldn't be more estatic.  There's a wide variety of styles and creations for just about anyone to find their own inspiration just in time for Halloween!Ivey Deschanel's "The Baroness"

Fashionably Clowning Around Under the Big Top

As I continued to mull over what to be for my second Halloween in SL, I somehow got sucked into Carnival of Doom.  The Carnival naturally a place to find all kinds of cool avatars, accessories, skins, and other things to help complete a Halloween ensemble.  There are also creatively-attired Carnies wandering about that are great for getting some inspiration.  And, I enjoy riding the rides to end up in the waiting room known as hell (you can even get the tee shirt!) and wandering the maze-like house.  Allegory Malaprop for Carnival of Doom

Halloween is coming! Do you have a costume yet?

The Greenies may "Green the Grid," but SL Residents are all about the orange when Halloween rolls around.   Costumes and spooky decorations along with all things pumpkin are popping up left and right.

I'm getting pumped for Halloween in SL myself.  The virtual world is a fantastic place to celebrate the holiday. You don't have to go into temporary Halloween stores advertised by a scary giant clown holding a sign by the highway. You don't have to pay $50 US for something mostly made of vinyl and itchy felt that you'll only wear once, and you'll only wear drunk because it's ridiculously skimpy. You can do so much more with your avi, who isn't confined by the limits of hair spray and doesn't have to worry about uncomfortable shoes!

The Passions of Black Swan Ends Today with a Fashion Show and Contest Winners

The "Passions of Black Swan" event has come to a close after twenty of SL's most talented designers came together to bring you their own take on the magic of Black Swan through their creations.  Timeless Modeling Agency will showcase these designs one last time at 2 pm SL today to finish the event with a flourish.  Be sure to arrive early and follow the path to be able to have a front row seat as the models walk the runway one last time.

Clio Cardiff and Samsara Nishi Make Inspiration an Art

When Clio Cardiff was looking for inspiration to create her "Passions of Black Swan" dress, she found it at the very heart of the sim.  Her gown "Embrace" came from the statue in the middle of Black Swan depicting a man and a woman tightly holding each other.  The statue is one of the many pieces from Light Waves. This master of prim sculpture first envisioned Black Swan and gave it life, especially with his towering statues placed within it like the one Clio loves.

Callie Cline and Nebulosus Severine Create Siren-Hot Passion for Black Swan

One of the reasons Rezzable decided to do the "Passions of Black Swan" fashion event was the smashing success of "Fashions Inspired By Black Swan" a few months ago.  Part of that success was due to the creativity of Callie Cline and Nebulosus Severine.  Both Callie and Nebulosus ("Nebby" for short) graciously decided to come back to Black Swan and get inspired by the passions expressed within the sim after they both had a great experience the first time.Callie Cline & Nebulosus Severine's Creations

Shai Delacroix and Jonny Dusk let you express your own "Passions of Black Swan."

Casa del Shai has been one of my most favorite of the favorite stores since I discovered it almost a year ago.  When I think of Shai Delacroix's designs, I think of edgy elegance and the very height of style in SL fashion.  High praise, yes..but if anyone deserves it, it's this long-time creator of the "classy pixels" (as she calls them).  Shai Delacroix's "Rosalind"

Imagine my excitement when we she agreed to participate in Passions of Black Swan!  I couldn't wait to see what would inspire her.  It turns out, the answer is...Tim Burton!  I talked with Shai as the designers were setting up, and she told me the statue of the ballerina within Black Swan mixed with her love of Tim Burton's "Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Beetle Juice" to create this dark ballerina dress she calls "Rosalind."  This dress is just the first peek at her soon-to-be-released new collection.

The Carnival of Doom: The Dirty Side of Dark with Beatrix Newt

Over a year ago, RightAsRain Rimbaud asked Beatrix Newt to create the Carnival of Doom build as she working on The Cannery.  He knew he wanted a carnival of rides that can kill, but he left all of the rest up to the imaginations of Beatrix and her partner, Alejandro Rosenthal.  What unfolded (and still is in the process of unfolding) is a sim packed with hidden surprises amongst a carousel that might just throw you in a vice, cotton candy that will leave you wishing you hadn't gone straight for the carbs, and a haunted house with a monster known affectionately as "Jeb."
