The Flynn Sheridan Invitational Surf Contest for Relay for Life brought hundreds to Surfline to raise money to fight cancer. Surfers of all kinds (including me, the uber noob) brought their boards and ripped up the waves while friends gathered on the stands and cheered them on with woots, the ever-popular hoos, and "For Flynn!" The event was named in honor of Flynn Sheridan, the founder of the SL Surfing Association. Flynn is battling cancer himself and the surfing community showed their support for him and all those fighting cancer by putting together the contest in conjunction with the BBA All-Stars Relay for Life team.

I think I was remiss by not introducing myself formally with my first post. My name is Adaire DeCuir and I like candlelit dinners, long walks on the beach, and puppies. Actually, I’m just one of those wackadoodles that bounces around SL and likes to write about it. I have been blogging on Free*Style for a little while now and am thrilled to start for Rezzable. The creativity behind the design of its sims and the unique experiences that Rezzable provides to SL residents is unmatched. I mean really, where else could you go stare down a giant cat and see frolicking little green people while doing so. I think that would normally require some rather illicit drugs.

Whenever I've stopped by Epic Island for some R&R or picture-taking for SL Free*Style, I've always taken at least a wistful glance at the waves rolling onto the sand and wondered if I could ever surf. I have surfed in rl, and let me tell you if you've never tried it: it's hard. Getting up on a surfboard for the first time is like trying to solve a Rubik's Cube while hanging upside down from a tree with a hungry bear taking swipes at you. Actually, that might be a little bit of an exaggeration, but trust me that isn't not a walk in the park.

One of the hardest parts of running a contest is getting people involved, interested, engaged. Once the involvement is in place, then its keeping the attention and focus and goal in sight. In a virtual world, brimming with so much to do, see and explore, the question begs to be asked, "What event can engage guests?"

With summer upon us, I thought it would be nice to dress in something light, short and completely adorable. The Surfline cotton n lace shirt, with off the shoulder lace topped prim sleeves and coloured shorts, both in yellow. What I like about the top is the gentle gathering of the material in the front, a tiny key hole opening, giving just a hint of skin and the way it stops right above my belly button. Not only is it coloured perfectly to go with the shorts, but it mixes nicely with a pair of jeans or even a white mini skirt.

Yesterday, June 5, 2008, we had a wonderful concert presented by Max Kleene. The opening show was by our very own Aerlinniel Vella, bringing us her wonderful mix of jazz. Then at 4pm SLT Max delighted our guests with his wonderful music. Definitely planning to book him again in the, hopefully, near future.

This week,a beautiful sundress, with bursting blue print.

While the freebies roll out, we also had a Spring Fling Treasure Hunt. Hidden all over the islands, were 20 small surfboards, filled with goodies valued over $75L each. Also, limited surfboards were rezzed, with a special ticket inside.

But we dont stop there, on Wednesday, May 21 at 4pm SLT, we had a party to see which golden ticket was the winning one. We had DJ Aerlinniel Vella playing her jazzy, sultry stylings as we enjoy Club Elemental.

The Surfline gods awoke one morning and felt spring in the air. They got together and wanted to celebrate this. After tossing around ideas, they felt tossing around some wonderful Surfline gifts, hidden in surfboards was the best way to share their joy with you.

Hidden around Surfine are 20 surfboards with prizes from jewelry to clothing. Each board is filled with a gift, valued over $75. In addition to these boards, are FIVE (5) special ones each day, with a golden ticket. Your entrance key to a big prize drawing. But these boards are limited!!
