My Rezzable Year

happy two thousand and nine to all- I hope you can forgive me a little nostalgia....

my rezzable year- 2008

What better place to start the recap of 2008 than in Times Square, New York City with a digital billboard of Rezzable's own Club Jaguar, built by Betlog Hax for the Hang 10 sim?

The Surfline cluster of sims certainly had their ups and downs, and it seemed everybody on the team had worked on them at one time or another...  In April of 2008, the Secondlife Surfing Association chose to use a custom designed Rezzable sim for their annual competition, and in June hosted an event that raised over 228,000L for Relay for Life.  rezzable.com/blog/adaire-decuir/surfers-become-warriors-fight-against-cancer-surfline

The Man Behind The Barrel? Orhalla Zander's 'real life' representative.

Those who visit Rezzable regions regularly will have noticed: the hobo community moved in recently. Now the head-hobo Orhalla Zander has an engaged an atomic to relay his orders, notices, event invites and best wishes for 2009 to the hobos through YouTube video message. Mr Oz hopes this will save him time on writing notices and clearing out misunderstandings about what "Oz said". The payment this poor atomic gets in exchange for his 'representative duties'? Of course, a can of beans, hobo-style. But, well, the atomic seems to enjoy it:

Twas the night before Christmas...

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the Sim.
Not a Avi was stirring, nor even a prim.
Only some few were online, for friends and for pals,
And were gathered in just a few such locales.

The Lindens were nestled all snug on their land,
While peace filled their servers, no one to be banned.
And Bot in her Lifetree, and I with my staff,
Were settled with family, for a good evening's laugh.

When out in the garden, there arose such a sound,
We ran to the gate, and see what we found!
When the door, it had opened, and the scene, it did rezz,
The view that did greet us, it did quite impress.

The ground was covered, with snow oh-so-white,
And the moon glistened off it, a beautiful sight.
A wonder indeed, I can offer no doubt,
Since per-pixel shading, in SL was not out.

But the wonder of wonders, a sight I held dear,
Something that told me, we have nothing to phear.
A man dressed in red, with a circlet of green,
With stature so jolly, as ever I've seen.

Out of Order - The Ferris Wheel Fiasco

As the wheel turned, gears grinded and screeched as if someone had stuck a wedge between the spokes of a child's bicycle. The ferris wheel had jolted into a sudden haunt. Passengers screamed in terror while children began to cry. In that split moment, the sheer terror that coated the carnival's atmosphere could be heard for miles. The carts which contained the fear stricken, panicking passengers viciously rocked back and forth. A pale faced, young boy leaned over the edge of the highest cart and began to vomit profusely. A woman cried out to turn the ride back on, but her pleading was silenced as if no one had heard her. Everything was teetering on the edge of disaster. There was only one way to escape the ferris wheel fiasco and that was to climb down.

WoW ft. Real Life: One exhausting foot race across Azeroth

We have written before on how just fanatic WoW players can get - check out the WoWpod -, but this is a new one: two WoW fans decided to race across the Azeroth area on Real Life Foot. How did they do that? They hooked up two threadmills to their PC's and using the WoW scripting engine for input devices, they track the speed of their threadmills and convert that to in-world movement. Keep in mind: where the WoW character runs 12 miles/hour (20km/h), their humans only need to run 6 miles/hour (10km/h).

Welcome to the third installment of the 5.5... *sniff*... I can't believe we've made it this far. I've actually accumulated quite a number of profiles already, and once I master this whole process of 'blogging' (how do you folks do it? sheesh!) I should be able to post more frequently. I'm really excited to introduce you to the people I've met...

Kryptonia Paperdoll's Virtual Love Affair

Miss Kryptonia Paperdoll confesses:

Ok, some of you might already know that I got a love affair ever since last year. It’s not just a love affair it is a love story between me and my love, Mr. Green. :-)

I posted it actually on Flickr long time ago... today I spend a small and lovely vacation with him… ahhhh I cant resist it, if he send me invitation to dance, to hang out and of course to cuddle with him.

It began (copying my old text on Flickr, LOL)...

Rezzable Now Sponsoring New World Notes

We like Ham!

ham (no green eggs)We are now sponsoring one of our favorite virtual world blogs--New World Notes, featuring the posts from Hamley Au and many other leading lights in SL. Hamlet irl once worked inside LL as well as being one of the true virtual world evangelists. Ok, his avatar wears a flashy white suite and looks a lot a waiter at a luau or something--ice cream man maybe? But, he is easy to spot on the grid, so if you see him floatin' around say hi!(or shoot him with a zapgun and make him dance). Where there is hope in SL, there is Ham.
