Originally planned to be held at the 'Church of Greenies' SL5 ' disastrous' B, unable to take place because of constantly crashing birthday sims, then ported to the Greenies Home Kitchen Table for a small but loyal and enthusiast public and eventually 'reperformed' at the new Greenies Lawn for a broad public of dedicated Greenies Believers, skill full virtual creators and interested residents, Reverend RaR's - better known as RightasRain Rimbaud - SL5B Greenies Religion speech, a transcript:
Brother and sisters, fellow travellers on this empty Grid, kindred explorers, wanderers and seekers! Greetings and salutations. Welcome to the Greenies Lawn. Run your virtual toes in this sandy texture!
Welcome to hear the word of the Green! Join us all together to understand this strange and marvellous Grid--join us to understand that we share the same situation in this digital construct--this creation of the broadbanded ether, that is more our imagination than all the zeros and ones that deliver it to us.
Hear the word of the Green! Understand that the Greenies, like us and we like them are not residents of SL--no friends, not residents at all. No they appear in this metaverse through our collective vision, through a shared experience of the Green.
Amidst all the noise and junk in this SL world, do you feel lost and confused on the grid. Say it if you feel it Brothers and Sisters! Do you wander sims only to find campers and bots? Do you seek the purpose of it all? Tired of shopping for stuff you are never going to wear more than once. Bored of flapping on camping chairs? Disillusioned and unsatisfied in the blank, touchless embrace of sex escorts? I challenge you now then friends, to open your heart and start feeling the Green!
Find the wonder of exploring this creative matrix of prims and people. Meet fellow travellers from across this planet we are bound unto.
First I must tell you to see this grid for what it is! The keys are in front of you. Consider this moment when it can all be revealed! Hit ctrl+shift+r on your PC keyboard now! Touch those keys and grasp the emptiness of this digital void. See the flat space that contains us.
Imagine now the poor little Greenies trapped within this same grid with us. Far from their home--distant from their own familiar places. Hopeless to ever return. They are trapped within our grid--yes, trapped--for friends the Greenies are not residents in SL. No, they have no rights, no permissions, no premium account. Friends, like us they are prisoners of this feeble grid. Yes, there is no land here and we are not residents--we are all, like the Greenies, prisoners!
Promises have been made. Many not kept. Powerful people now make money from this. They make money every day. Brothers and sisters, fellow travelers, does that make you angry? Crtl+shift+r reveals what is really here. Set yourself free from the digital chains. Realize that all that is here--is us. Yes, it is only us, connected by light but still sitting in the dark.
Let the Green show you the way. Find the simple pleasures. Know that each prim here is placed by a real person. That each link is an effort to build a way forward--to create a bridge that moves us from where we are to where we will go next.
Feel the Green and explore this brave new metaverse in wonder and enjoyment!
Wise and Green Words spoken by,
Reverend RaR
You might or might not have notices that that cute little alien featured on the secondlife.com frontpage is no longer on the SL5B Sims. Neither is the Church of Greenies, the Greenies Robot that gets you a gift Robot Toy, nor is our Yearbook 2007-2008. Only some tents and an info booth are left. Why so? We were disillusioned & heavily disappointed by this year's Second Life Birthday Event and decided to put the Birthday Cake in the Dump, the Church of Greenies on that strange parcel at Bay City and to move the cosy part to Greenies Lawn. Alike tons of people, we put a lot of time in building at SL5B and planning events. Alike tons of people, we saw those events ruined because of inabilities to login, the inability to add to the events calender, constant sim crashes and general laggyness. It's hard to still be exited about SL5B. In this hard times - even called a 'virtual winter' by some - we turn to our Church of Greenies, we need our beliefs more than ever. We pray that the big news, whatever that may be, is something that will warm our virtual hearts again.
