The GMF 2008 sponsored by Languagelab has come to an end. We had great DJ's performing, awesome live artists, lots of maxed streams and lovely gadgets. Now we want to hear from you, which performer deserves the $L50,000 in prize money plus $L50,000 worth of in-world merchandise. To vote in this poll you need to be a registered user (how to, or scroll down) to our website and - of course - log in. Voting ends on the 14th of October.
How to register your avatar:
- Go to an avatar link station. You shall find one in Greenies Lawn (TP) outside the sandcastle or in the Greenies Shop (TP).
- Touch the top panel marked “Register New Account”, and follow the instructions in the blue boxes on the top right of your screen.
- As standard, you will be given an account name the same as your Second Life name. You will also need to enter an email address, make sure that this is a real one! (and no @hotmail address!)
- Once you have confirmed your account name and email address, you will receive an email with details of how to log in to the Rezzable website. (If you entered a hotmail address, most likely, you'll never receive an email.)
- Log in & GO VOTE.

Thu, 10/09/2008 - 22:46 — Amanda Shinji (not verified)I performed at the GMF, but as my set was plagued by technical problems, being a total breakdown in organisation and communication on the part of Rezzable, with total confusion over the entry system to the Greenies sim, plus the fact that no one was informed whereabouts I was actually DJing in the sim once the access issues were sorted and I started DJing, some 25 minutes late, I don't see the point in registering to be counted in the votes, because I have a feeling that the 3 people who actually made it to my set won't be enough to swing it for me.
I would like to suggest that IF this sort of event is run again by Rezzable that lessons are learned. Don't hold the event on a sim where access has to be bought, even if it is free access (despite what the signage indicated) and make sure that you don't keep a DJ waiting 25 minutes for someone responsible for sorting these issues to actually come online. The total breakdown in organisation and communication in Rezzable was really inexcusable for an organisation that prides itself in it's reputation.
I can't speak for anyone elses' experiences of playing the GMF, but I was bitterly disappointed in how things seemed to go completely wrong with something that should've been so simple to arrange.
GMF was never about the chance to win L$50,000 as far as I was concerned. I agreed to do it for the fun of playing out to a different crowd in a really cool place to be, however DJing for 3 friends in a sim where people just didn't know how to get into the performance area or didn't know where the stage was, weren't things I expected to encounter along the way.
