Wearable newness to Die for only @ Crimson Shadow

You know when sometimes, you see an outfit, and you just want to tackle the person wearing it to the ground, to rip it off their back and have it for yourself? In the course of my wanderings at Crimson Shadow (Rezz there now!) Lokum narrowly escaped this fate, from me.

She was wearing this amazing strapless gown with a stunning tulle skirt, which, without word of a lie, I squealed when I saw. I squealed doubly when I found out that this incredible dress was the work of Alla Ruff, who has worked with Rezzable previously on their Second Life adaptation of Rebecca Edwards' RL rockabilly fashion line at the Cannery (TP there!).

Lokum told me that the dress she was wearing was not yet finished (which threw me, it was perfection to me as it was), and from the new line of clothing at Crimson Shadow which would be coming out soon. This was exciting news to me, as a long-time devotee of the breathtakingly dramatic gowns, powerfully sexy latex outfits, and dangerously alluring Lolita dresses at Crimson Shadow.

Well, that dress is finished now, and it turns out I was wrong. Now it's perfection. The Dynasty dress for Crimson Shadow is quite possibly the dress I would have chosen myself if I had gone to a school that had a prom, had an outstandingly talented seamstress, and the budget to create my dream dress...and perhaps the impeccable taste I enjoy having now.

Dynasty Dress

Available in three colours, black, red, and gold/beige, the Dynasty dress features a strapless corset-like satin bodice, with a classic square-cut neckline resting about halfway up the bust, modest enough not to have to worry about 'wardrobe malfunctions', but still baring enough flesh to be deliciously sexy, and has widely spaced narrow vertical stripes of stitched ribbon adorning it creating a flatteringly lengthening line on the torso.
The skirt is a jaw dropping creation, layers and layers of floaty white tulle, which drifts with a satisfying kind of 'swish' when you move, but what sets this skirt apart from its peers, in my heart, is the sculpted detail of a silk over-skirt, rushed up to the hip on one side, and secured with a cluster of sculpted roses and spirals of ribbon, giving the dress an air of rebellion, like a débutante showing her petticoats at a society party.
The vampish bolero included with the dress brings it to a whole new level of gothic sophistication, with its dramatic sculpted high collar and wonderful wide bell cuffs, and a sculpted rose clasp, transforms this flirtatious gown into something rather more grown-up, but likewise the prims can be removed for a more casual evening look, making this dress versatile as well as beautiful.

All That Jazz

Imagine, then, my excitement when I saw this next dress, “All That Jazz”, also by Alla Ruff for Crimson Shadow, a slinky mermaid style dress any torch singer would be proud to wear on stage, also available in black, red, and gold. If there's one thing Alla excels at, if for some reason she was only allowed to make one type of clothing for the rest of time, and I was the one to choose what clothing that was, it's the system skirt. I'm hard pressed to think of more than one or two other designers who makes system skirts so slinky, elegant, and generally 'wearable'. While a great proportion of Second Life's women run screaming from the system skirt and its 'derrière enhancing' properties, the skirts Alla makes hug the curves of the body in all the right places, and the skirt of “All That Jazz” is no exception to this. The skirt merges absolutely seamlessly with the simple strapless top of the dress, and proceeds down over the legs with immaculate shading, before flaring out at the calf with the aid of sculpted attachments, in a flurry of snow white netting, spilling out from under the hem of the skirt, which forms a gentle and yet substantial train at the back, wide and decadent, making this dress as much of a visual delight from the back as from the front, while remaining tastefully graceful and simple.

As the nights begin to draw in, and the party season begins, the Crimson Shadow boutique's new line is sure to have something to delight everyone, and keep all eyes on you, whatever the occasion. Even if it does put you in danger of being tackled by envious admirers!
