Juushika Redgrave finds Poison Candy to be tasty

Juushika Redgrave posing the 'Sin City' Poison Candy virtual dress

Featured in some sims and hiding behind the art in others, Rezzable hosts a surprising number of stores, from vintage to gothic, fetish to bizarre. My name is Juushika (feel free to call me Juu), and posting for Rezzable I'll be putting together outfits that contain at least one piece available from a Rezzable sim. I'm a longtime SL fashionista and a catgirl, but I don't limit myself to a specific style of clothing. Instead I like to mix up items to create a new finished look. The rest of the week when I'm not posting for Rezzable, you can find me on Flickr.

Miss Juushika wearing the virtual dress 'Sin City'I could have begun with a complex clothing remix, but I fell in love with this dress at first sight and so I decided to begin with something more simple. The dress is from Poison Candy, which offers a decently sized collection of women's retro clothing. They are also an online real-life clothing line; skill in the real world doesn't necessarily translate into skill in game, but Poison Candy does a good job of it. They carry over their bold designs and bright patterns and use selective shading and sculptie prim skirts. As a result, the style is appears hand drawn, relying on pattern and design rather than light baking or lots of wrinkles, and the dresses are seamless: they flow from bodice to skirt as if they were one single unit. The seamless flow is what sold me, it creates a wonderful finished look.

Even with a black background, the dress pattern is brighter than what I usually wear. I'm a redhead, so I avoid red; this time I tucked my hair up instead to keep from clashing with my clothes. Hair and accessories can change or define an outfit; since Poison Candy is retro-styled, I wanted to carry that through with my accessories. The hair is from ETD, a wrapped bun that I've modded to tint the hair and remove the trailing ends of the scarf. Miss Juushika wearing the virtual dress 'Sin City'The necklace is from Paper Couture: no matter how much I try to vary my jewellery, I come back to Paper Couture more often than not. The shoes are from Shiny Things, which is also my likewise my favorite shoe store. My glasses are from Persenickety, and if you wear glasses in game you have to visit Persenickety. They are all-prim glasses, beautifully constructed and scripted for easy modding. I rarely wear anything else.

Skin and eyes are often just as important as clothing and accoutrements. My skin of choice is an Another Skin mod that I made myself. I don't currently sell my skins, but the bases by Eloh Eliot are available on her website and a number of places on the grid, and they're wonderful fun to play with. For a long time I was a dedicated eye collector (I have over 100 pairs of green eyes), but when I discovered these cat eyes from Nora I fell in love—with pupil size, style, and the color. I still wear different eyes every now and then, but this is the pair I default to. With this outfit, skin and eyes provide a neutral background to display the bold dress.
