Gravity Never Looked So Good: The "Passions of Black Swan" Creations of Ivey Deschanel & Tuli Asturias

Ivey Deschanel is the creative goddess behind the well-known and cheekily-named Sn@tch, serving up wicked hot punk/glam/goth/club clothing with attitude.  "Passions of Black Swan" was a natural fit for Ivey, as her designs are often infused with darkness, edginess, and touches of romance and retro glamour. Her devoted throng of followers (myself included!) were ecstatic when she agreed to participate.

I asked Ivey about how she became inspired to create the "Gravity" ensemble, her glamourous-with-aniedge "Passions of Black Swan" creation.  She had this to say:

"After sitting for a few hours at the Black Swan sim, walking around the stone walkways and peering up into the sky and down deep into the water, being rained on by small metal spikes several times and feeling like I was part of a large constantly changing, evolving work of art, the idea for "Gravity" came to me, not so much from the individual parts but the feeling as a whole...of weighlessness, falling and flying. I do punk, goth and club clothes so I had in my head a glam rockstar look and "Gravity" emerged from that."

Who better to show off "Gravity" than Ivey herself? The ensemble she's wearing is comprised of several pieces that can be worn together or separately in several different ways.  That mix-and-matchy-ness is one of her clothing's signature qualities that makes Sn@tch so popular and this ensemble so versatile.  The so-silky-you-want to-reach-out-and-touch-it, two-toned bodysuit in midnight and pale aqua was heavily influenced by the gorgeous look of the water at Black Swan.  One of the unique little touches that sets her outfit apart is the cord that hangs down the back that has two wings dangling from it, channeling the "gravity" theme.  The ostrich leather midnight blue pants have two sculpted, flare legs and an attached belt with a simple but stunning swan design.

The coat is my favorite part of the outfit.  The shoulders have fluffy blue and black feathers and is covered with swirls of sequins.  It trails behind you as you strut your stuff, flowing like you'd imagine the wind does as it caresses the Night Dreamer statue's face.  Long gloves with feathered cuffs can be worn with the coat or just the body suit, and black sequin tights are also included to give more wear options.  The included necklace is reminiscent of the falling metal spikes in the "Noobility" exhibit currently within Black Swan. Tuli's "Gravity" Black Swan SkinAnd "Gravity" doesn't have to stop there! Tuli Asturias of Tuli fame created skins exclusively for the "Passions of Black Swan" that caused a veritable frenzy when they debuted at Monday's first fashion show.  (I think I counted about 17 IMs within the first five minutes of the show from people who demanded to know where the skins were and when they would be for sale!)  There are four different makeups, and one of them is actually called "Gravity" too.  While Tuli and Ivey may seem like they are on different sides of the fashion spectrum, Black Swan inspired within them styles that flowed together so beautifully that I couldn't help but show them together on Ivey's gorgy self.

Tuli was inspired by the glittering blue water in the Black Swan sim, and it's reflected in the dazzling eye shadow that sweeps over the lid and blends towards brow.  Black swan feathers frame the under eye area and extend past the outer corners to create a dramatic look that's woven with a little other-worldly mystery.  A delicate shade of rose makes the lips pouty-perfect and a subtle compliment to the eyes.  A little bit of blush warms the skin, but also complements instead of competes with the brilliance of the eye shadow design.  Black swan feathers are also imprinted onto the skin in a few places in contrast to the paler skin, enhancing that distinctiveness that makes Tuli's creation one of a kind.

Ivey is also wearing Aemilia Case's "Kalee" hairstyle that suits so many of the outfits created for this event.  Available in over 100 colors with a color-change band accented by color-change roses, it's one of the most customizable (and surprisingly versatile) hairstyles I've purchased in quite some time!

You can find both the "Gravity" ensemble, "Kalee" hair  and "Gravity" skin by following the path (just sit on the red feather after clicking on the door at the landing spot) to the vendor area within Black Swan (TP).  Stay tuned for details about the upcoming fashion show on Saturday for those who couldn't make it to Monday's opening events!
