As I continued to mull over what to be for my second Halloween in SL, I somehow got sucked into Carnival of Doom. The Carnival naturally a place to find all kinds of cool avatars, accessories, skins, and other things to help complete a Halloween ensemble. There are also creatively-attired Carnies wandering about that are great for getting some inspiration. And, I enjoy riding the rides to end up in the waiting room known as hell (you can even get the tee shirt!) and wandering the maze-like house.
But clowns?! Yes, I'm one of those people who has a very mild case of "coulrophobia." I don't like clowns in my real life. It's something about the painted faces and the eyes. It's hard to explain, and it sounds ridiculous as I write it, but it is unfortunately true. The only clowns I seem to be ok with are the Cirque du Soleil clowns. But, they seem like rather posh clowns. Cultural clowns. Not the kind of clown that would necessarily drag you behind the big top and stab you to death.
Ok, I'm getting a little carried away. Needless to say, anything clown wouldn't be my first choice, but when Allegory Malaprop makes the attire exclusively for Rezzable, it's somehow irresistible. I found this tutu and lingerie top amongst the vendor wagons at the Carnival. I snagged one of the clown-themed skins and decided to give the whole clown thing a go despite my squeamishness over blood-covered clowns.
Allegory's design has a classic red and white stripe print reminiscent of the circus big top tents like the one within the sim. The top has a torn strap and blood spatter, giving it that perfect disheveled-like-a-killer clown feel. There's something almost sexy about it when worn alone, the red of the print making a nice contrastwith the paleness of the clown skin.
The tutu is by far my favorite piece within Carnival of Doom's shop. It moves beautifully with the lacy layers underneath the print bouncing and swaying for the perfect flounce while stalking your next victim (and to a girly girl like me, that makes sense!). It adds a sort of lost innocence, the lost part evidenced with the spatters of blood, of course! It's a fun piece that I've been reaching for ever since I've purchased it to try it with different shoes and tights and tops. Another little accessory I've been wearing alot is the "Blood Freakshow" choker that has a crimson colored band with a detailed skull that sits within the hollow of the neck.
In these pictures, I've paired my tutu and lingerie top with the "Lulu" torn socks from Celestial Studios and SiniStyle's "Sh!t Kicker" boots in black. I also have on hospital bracelets from EBT to give my avi that "just escaped from the clown insane asylum" vibe.

The clown skin was unusual and unique enough for me to pop it on without me getting the shivers about looking clown-like. I love how the lips are accented with the red swipe of lipstick down the middle and the red painted tears slipping from the eyes. It offsets the blood and gives it a grotesque beauty instead of being trite. The painted white part of the face compliments the pale skin's tone and the detail on the rest of the body makes it a bargain for how little it costs.
I wore Sn@tch's new "Vampire Eyes" in red and Philotic Energy's newest hairstyle, "Piton," which means "spike" in French. Allegory's "Bigtop Bow" fit the hair perfectly like it was made for it and it gave the overall look a girly touch. I also included Jeb's stuffed bear that you can pick up for free in the scary house within the sim, and you can read a little about the backstory of it in one of my previous posts.
If you're looking for highly detailed, beautiful quality clothing that you will have occasion to pull out for more than just Halloween and you don't have the coulrophobia too, too bad, the Carnival of Doom "Big Top" series comes highly recommended. This outfit is now a favorite for the first Halloween party I attend, and I'll review a few more outfits that would be great costumes before the actual Hallow's Eve comes around.
