The Fashion Inspired by Crimson Shadow event is in full swing after kicking off this past weekend with a fashion show and a party. It's safe to say that those who attended were impressed by the creativity and beauty of the participating designers' creations! With 21 content creators giving their take on "the luscious place to die for," there's something at Crimson Shadow to suit everyone's taste.
Cailyn Miller's "Queen of the Shadows" Jewelry
One of these designers is Cailyn Miller of Jewellry By Cailyn, a jeweler who has made a name for herself with her creativity and attention to detail. Her designs range from Art Deco inspired to 70's-style bright colored beads and bangles, but she professes a secret love of the gothic. She got to indulge her appreciation of the style for Crimson Shadow with her "Queen of the Shadows" jewelry set.
Cailyn found her inspiration from Crimson Shadow's beautifully vaulted hallways, the circular theme of the rooms inbetween the hallways, and the black and crimson color scheme. The set she designed for this event includes six pieces overall, with a tiara, necklace, a pair of armbands and a pair of earrings. Each piece is made of swirling black metal with marquis cut, softly glowing rubies. The jewelry certainly made me feel like a queen when I put it on, evoking a sense of richness and desire. It's versatility is in wearing it separately to create a subtle look, or the entire set with each piece included to be full-on glamorous.
Stephanie Misfit and "The Mire" Skin
Stephanie Misfit's "The Mire," her pale version of her hugely popular "Erin" series from La Sylphide that was made just for Crimson Shadow, fits with the jewelry beautifully. The deep, crimson matte lips compliment the rubies of each jewelry piece, as do the smoky eyes with runny masquara with the black metal. I love how the masquara trail isn't overwhelming and doesn't take away from the richness of the lips, the real star power of this skin.
Other non-Crimson items that I will detail for the curios include Curio's "Gertrude" short hairstyle in "Wheat Blonde" I normally wear hair that is black or close to it, but Stephanie's skin suits just about any haircolor, another feature I love about it. The "Gentle Brush" lashes are from AC Aphrodite Creations, and the eyes are by Karamia.
Trilochankaur Rehula's "Cyber Destiny Princess"
Trilochankaur Rehula ("Tri" for short) and her shop NebuchadNezzar ("NDN," also for short) embraces the cybergoth genre of fashion. "Cyber" as a subculture has its roots in music and fashion scenes such as trance and hardcore, and its members generally have an interest in new and future technology. The "Cybergoth" has common elements with "Cyberkids," but leans more towards a gothic aesthetic like Tri's designs. Tri thinks of the metaverse as magic, being able to translate what is floating around in her head into wearable fashion.
Her "Cyber Destiny Princess" dress is gorgeous, whether you embrace the cybergoth or you like the pretty poofy dresses like me. The rich textures almost glow and black lace trails from the bustle and each classic puffed sleeve. The dress can be worn with or without the accessories that "cyber" it up and has many wear options with the staggering amount of pieces included. The ensemble includes hair, the tiara woven with roses, goggles, a bouquet of roses to hold, and shoes! If you're looking for a new dress or want to give the cybergoth style a go, you can get an entire outfit with Tri's "Cyber Destiny Princess" creation.
Selos Dae's "The Eye" Skin
Selos Dae, the owner of Trap, is an artist that tries to give SL a greater variety with his fantasy-inspired skin and androgynous styles. His skins are 100% hand-painted and laborously made from scratch, and the awesome details on his "The Eye" skin definitely reflect his efforts. There are three different makeups for both guys and girls, and includes one of the most unique things I have ever seen with a skin. An eye! The skin includes a moving and non-moving eye that comes with regular or glow versions and sits in the center of the forehead. Unfortunately my hair is covering my third eye in this picture, but you can see it in greater detail by reading Winter Jefferson's article, "Inspired by Crimson Killers." (I love anything Winter writes - his blog entries come highly recommended!)
I'm also wearing the "Toxic" set of eyes that were created by Malkavyn Eldritch, the owner behind Treasured Visions in the fairly new Magic of Oz sim. These eyes go great with many of the designs created for the Fashion Inspired by Crimson Shadow event, and they will not be sold afterwards, so you must buy them now to snag them! The pictures in this post both feature poses from [LAP], one of my favorite shops for diverse, fun, and fashionable animations.
Did you miss the party or the fashion show this past weekend? No problem! More shows are on the way and even a special event or two. Stay tuned to the blog for more information, or IM me in-world.
